For veterinarians

Please call to discuss the case before the owner travels, particularly for fractures, non-weight-bearing lameness, rabbits and birds. It lets Dr. Neelima tell you whether N3 is the right place and how soon the patient should be seen.

Helpful to send with the referral

• Species, breed, age, sex, neuter status and current body weight
• History: onset, duration, trauma, and response to any treatment so far
• Your examination findings, including neurological findings where relevant
• All medication given, with drug, dose and time of the last dose (especially NSAIDs and corticosteroids)
• Radiographs, ideally as original DICOM files, with at least two orthogonal views and, for fractures, the joints above and below
• Blood results and any sedation or anaesthetic notes

The clinic will tell you the best way to send image files. Please don't use the website to send patient records.

For pet parents seeking a second opinion

Asking for a second opinion is normal, particularly before surgery or when a problem isn't improving. A good vet won't mind being asked for copies of your pet's records.

How to prepare

• Ask your current vet for the X-rays as digital files (a download link, pen drive or CD). Photos of a computer screen lose detail.
• If you have printed X-ray films, photograph them flat against a bright window or light box, without flash, filling the frame.
• Bring every report, discharge summary and prescription, in date order if you can.
• Note what you were told, what has been done, and what has changed since.

What to expect

Dr. Neelima will still need to examine your pet. Earlier images are very useful, but sometimes new X-rays are needed because the injury has changed, or the earlier views don't show the area clearly. She'll explain why if that's the case.
